Located in the Vosges in eastern France, the heart of a region with a longstanding paper-making tradition, Clairefontaine was established on the site of a paper mill built in 1512.
The Clairefontaine mill has been making paper since 1858 and stationery products since 1890. The company is best known for making the first school notebooks in France.
Clairefontaine is currently the only European manufacturer making its own papers for its own products. This guarantees not only consistent quality, but also controls the environmental impact of the manufacturing process.
With Clairefontaine, you don’t need to sacrifice quality for environmental concerns – you can have them both in one notebook.
Clairefontaine paper is:
- Extra white and exceptionally smooth
- Ink-friendly – never bleeds, smears or feathers
- Acid-free & pH neutral – paper will not yellow or deteriorate with age
- Opaque – no see thru – use both sides of the page
- Strong – does not tear
